Commodore CD1200 Trackerball

Infra Red Tracker ball and Port adapter.

This device is Commodore's CD1200, It is an Infra red tracker ball and is powered by two D batteries or can be connected to the CDTV using a standard SVHF cable connected to a port on the left hand side of the CD1200 and to the mouse port on the rear of the CDTV.
The tracker ball has two mouse buttons, a numeric pad, Audio CD controls (IE: Forward, Rewind, Stop & Play), CDTV buttons (CD/TV, Genlock & Power) and a power on button for the tracker ball.
It also has two mouse ports for connecting standard Amiga (And Atari or Sinclair ZX) mice or joysticks.

The CD1200 is a universal tracker ball, Working with both NTSC and Pal systems.
The tracker ball must be turned on using the power button on the right side of the CD1200, The key pad and mouse ports are always on. After being left idle for 5 minutes the tracker ball turns itself off to save power.

As with all mice and tracker balls the CD1200 requires no software to run and there are no incompatibilities with using an infra red trackerball with games although controlling the CD player with a tracker ball can be a little difficult. :)

This device is probably better in my opinion than a mouse for the CDTV, It takes up less room and can be operated from an arm chair, Propping a mouse mat on an arm chair can lead to disaster in a game of Lemmings when you tell the wrong lemming to blow up because your mouse mat slipped. ;-)
The cable connection will suit people with little desk space as an IR interface requires a line of sight with the receiver
The trackerball was available from most CDTV stockists but retailing at £49.99 (Dec 93) not many where sold (Yes I know you can pay that much for a Win98© Tracker ball now but it was a lot then, You could have that or a Commodore SCSI interface).
Now a days they are hard to find, Your best bet would be to visit oldsoftware.com.
