Digital Creations DCTV.

The Digital Composite TeleVision was one of the most popular cards for the Amiga computer, It is a true colour graphics card and digitaliser for any 1 Meg Amiga (Including the CDTV).
The graphics card ability of the card is limited, It is a low scan graphics card which makes it useless for games or such like but very usefull for kiosks and other information stations.
The data is sent to the card through the RGB port as visual data (Similar to the system used to back data up onto a standard VCR) which is a very limited system but also makes it possiable to work on any Amiga.
The Amiga DCTV could also capture true colour images if connected to the parralel port but this had to be removed the CDTV version.
The CDTV version fits into the Video slot at the rear of the CDTV replacing the card fitted and requires software drivers to be loaded before the card activates. The card only has one output, Its a standard composite output, A clock ajust screw is provided (Wonder if it was ever needed?) and a connector which connects to the RGB video out port to get some missing video signals.
The CDTV version is a very rare card, Only being sent to developers and Kiosk developers when they were new. The Amiga version sold for $499 when launched, The CDTV version would have been produced in smaller numbers but without the ability to capture images so would probably have cost a similar price, The Amiga version was available in either NTSC or PAL and could not have been converted to run on both, As the CDTV version would be based on the same chipset it would have probably been available in one version or the other (Maybe only in NTSC).
Only one of the cards have been seen available since this sites been running (The original owner kindly sent me the above photo), It was in the USA and was fitted to a standard CDTV, It didnt make anymore than a normal CDTV though.
