The Mini Mega ChipA 2 Meg Chip Ram Upgrade.

This upgrade is one of the many Amiga 500/2000 upgrades that will work with the CDTV, The Mini Mega Chip consist of a 2 Meg Fat Angus (Memory controller) and a bank of 1 Meg memory chips mounted on a small PCB which replaces the Fat Angus on the CDTV.
The Fat Angus is one of two square chips on the CDTV`s motherboard so installation is easy (As long as you don't replace the DMAC (Direct Memory Access Chip) with the Mini Mega Chip.
The card requires no drivers or software, The extra memory is instantly added to the CDTV when you turn it on.
The extra memory does noticeably speed up your CDTV, Screen redraws (I.E.: Frames Per Second in an animation) are faster, Specially 4096 colour screens, You can store more in the Ram drive than you could ever need (I.E. You could copy the complete operating system to RAD (A ram drive that can be booted off after a reset) and still have memory left to load the OS and run any program that ran on the 1 Meg CDTV from Workbench. Sound is also effected but you probably wont notice that as the CDTV is very good at memory management when playing music. CDXL animation's may be a little smother (Depending on the resolution and FPS the CDXL is set to, A small 25FPS CDXL probably wont go that much faster with more memory unless its in 4096 colours or such).
The Mini Mega Chip can be bought from most Amiga shops and the price is between £50 - £75 (Originally they sold for £99 everywhere).
This is one of the major upgrades to the CDTV.
One note: Buying just the 2 Meg Angus will not give you 2 Meg of Chip Ram, The Mini Mega Chip (Or other makes of 2 Meg Chip Ram Upgrades) has memory chips on it as well, Also some people have found that just putting a 2 Meg Angus in without the extra memory will stop the computer from starting, Instead it presents you with a nice Yellow screen.
