The CDTV's Preferences Screen.

This is the CDTV's preferences screen, It is just like a BIOS on a PC (Except a lot nicer to look at),
You can get to this screen by pressing any key or button on your keyboard, joypad or mouse when the CDTV's main screen is up (The CD resting on a mountain) and you can exit this screen by pressing the Enter key to save your edits or escape if you do not wish to save them.
In the top left hand corner of the screen is the time and date, To edit these simply move the highlight to the correct area using your joypad and then type in the correct time and then the date, The date format is DD MM YYYY (IE: 25 12 2001 = 25th December 2001), The time can be stored in 24 hour or AM/PM format (But some versions of the CDTV revert to the 24 hour clock after 11:59 PM).
To the right of the time/date display is a big box with a small dimond in it, This is to move the screen around. You should alter this if you see a black line on one side of the screen. To select it press button A on your joypad. The dimond will turn red and then pressing the cursor keys on the joypad will move the dimond and the screen so you can get rid of those black areas.
To the right of that is a picutre of a monitor with the screen background in one half and a black screen with the word CDTV in it, This is the screen saver control, To alter the delay before a screen saver is activated there is a bar to the right of the monitor with the symbols 1, 5, 10, 30 & °° on them, The 1 to 30 are the number of minutes it should wait and the symbol °° turns the screen saver off (The symbol means "Never Ending").
Below the screen saver controls is the language selection, To alter the language simply select the box and move your cursor up or down to cycle through the avaiable languages. After selecting your language press button A (On your joypad).
To the left of hte language selection are two more buttons, The bottom one turns the sound effects on and off (Default= On), When on every time you press a key or button a small beep is produced, This is disabled when a program is loaded (But some titles re-activate it).
Above that are two pictures of monitors, one with lots of lines in it and one with a grey block, This alters the way the screens are drawn, Normally you wont need to change this but if the display looks smuged select this to see if it improves (The screen instantly changes when this button is pressed), No damage can be caused by pressing this button and simply pressing it again restores it to normal.
Go Back To Screens Menu.
